A leading hotel and property development company will expand its global footprint with a 5-star hotel built by a local entrepreneur on Gulshan - Tejgaon Link Road in Dhaka. Swissotel Bangladesh Limited, one of the world's largest hotel companies, has signed a contract for the construction of a 4,000 square metre hotel in the capital city of Gul Shanty with a capacity of 375 rooms. The hotel industry has given the green light to the construction of a new hotel in Dhaka, the first of its kind in the country. It is one of the largest hotels in Bangladesh and the second largest in South Asia, after the Westin Hotel.

The Intercontinental Hotel, the oldest in the country, is currently undergoing renovations and is expected to reopen in February 2018.
